Avaya INDeX IPNC and DRC Cassette
INDeX IP Networking Cassette (IPNC)
The IPNC Voice-over-IP solution can be used to link several sites voice and data traffic over one existing link, providing significant line rental savings. The IPNC can pass voice calls over an existing data link (VOIP), it utilizes voice compression techniques to optimise speech quality and has up to 20 compressed voice channels, and it can also be used to pass data across an existing voice link (DPNSS).
IPNC also supports remote home workers who can access all there calls via AVAYA INDeX IP Phones and also access e-mails as if they were in the office, Distributed call centres which gives the ability for other sites users to logon to a remote call centre and answer calls as if they were there.

The IPNC is designed to provide a voice and data solution that is both easy to use and easy to manage, with secure data transmissions.
Features of the IPNC are:
- Secure Internet access and data services
- Intranet / wide area capability
- Dynamic addressing with an integrated DHCP server
- TCP/IP routing
- Dynamic bandwidth management for data services
- Voice-over-IP (VOIP)
- IP Phones & IP Softphones
- Network Address Translation, for added Internet security and local IP addressing flexibility
- Firewall to protect against intrusion from the Internet, the wide area, and by dialled access
- Remote Access Server (RAS) for custom dial-in data services
- Remotely Manageable
- Time bands - to restrict access to when, and only when, it is needed and authorised
- Encrypted Passwords - to allow access only by authorised users; all data service activity is password-controlled
INDeX Data Router Cassette (DRC)
The Data Router Cassette is a Router, a device which allows computers on several different sites to communicate with each other. The DRC can use the existing telephone lines or an existing voice link such as DPNSS to transfer data between different sites, using this method there is no need to have two separate links for data and voice. The DRC can be configured to switch calls to different routes if necessary, i.e. if a leased line fails, network traffic can be directed onto normal public lines.
The DRC has several applications:
- Allows two Local Area Networks (LAN's) in different locations to be linked as a single Wide Area Network (WAN).
- Allows remote computer users (traveling staff or home-workers) to access the office computer network as if in the office.
- Allow users on the LAN to have shared access to the internet.
To achieve this, the Data Router Cassette supports a wide range of protocols for network traffic, addressing, security and compression.
INDeX DRC Features:
- Support for up to 32 channels with up to 8 Analogue Modems.
- Ethernet 10BaseT or X21 Network Connection
- TCP/IP and IPX/SPX Address Protocols (including DHCP)
- RADIUS, PAP, CHAP, CLI and CLI-Dial back security
- Lempel-Ziv (STAC) and MPPC Compression Protocols
- PPP, MLPPP (M-PPP) and Line Spoofing
- NAUTICA Compatible
