The way this money saving is achieved is by routing your call traffic via our preferred carriers extensive network. Once you dial the number of the party you wish to speak to, your call is handed over by British Telecom at their exchange to our preferred carrier who are able to complete your telephone call connection at a far more competitive rate.
There are two ways this can be achieved. The first and most common, is by prefixing all your telephone calls with our preferred carriers personal four digit access code. This access code is recognised at the telephone exchange and instructs the exchange equipment to pass the call over to their network.
You don't have to do this. If your telephone lines or circuits are connected to a telephone system, this access code can be programmed into it so that it is automatically dialled out each time you make a call. If your telephone system is unable to provide this service, or you only have direct lines onto phones, equipment can be provided called dialler boxes which can carry out this service for you.
Is the second and even easier method of transferring your call traffic onto our preferred carriers network. Carrier Pre-Select or CPS, is a process carried out in the exchange where the exchange equipment recognises your own telephone number and knows to hand the call over to the carrier's network without the need for any access being sent. CPS is very new and may not be available in all exchanges at this present time.
